essie, the nail polish brand, markets itself as outgoing and classic. packaging for their nail polish consists of a clear glass container, topped with a plain white twist top. they let their polish colors and products speak for themselves. branching off the established themes of essie, i explored packaging designs for a sister brand of cosmetics.
the color palette i chose may not seem outgoing at first. however in the drug store makeup aisles, the ample white space will be a breath of fresh air. this packaging has the confidence to be a bit more muted, like the classic glassware of essie's nailpolish.
you will not see essie written on this packaging, for the lowercase 'e' is iconic in of itself. even if people do not recognize the name essie, everyone has seen the packaging once in their lives. this way, the cosmetic break off of essie would be advertised to all gender identities and personalities.
overall, the most challenging part of this project was constraining myself. my instinct is to go colorful, loud and playful. this was one of my first goes at classic and minimal.
