when the covid-19 pandemic hit, i was in auckland, new zealand. i made the decision to stay in new zealand during the pandemic instead of heading home. because of this decision, i had the amazing opportunity to join other design students at auckland university of technology in thanking the essential works of new zealand. several of us designed different billboards just to thank the workers that would still be out on the roads during lockdown. my uncle is a truck driver and he did not stop working during the pandemic so i immediately thought of him while working on this. this is one of the most fulfilling projects i've done! the handwritten type to right of the illustration is by harri wren.
